1. Why is it Important?
Frequency coordination is crucial for ensuring smooth and interference free operation of wireless microphones and wireless in ear monitors (IEMs) in various settings like TV studios, live stage shows, and concerts. Frequency coordination helps in optimizing the performance of wireless systems by managing and organizing frequencies to prevent signal conflicts and ensure reliable communication.
2. Spectrum Management
In todays crowded wireless spectrum world, it is more essential to manage the wireless spectrum in the environment you will be operating in. By coordinating and assigning frequencies, you can avoid wireless interference that can cause audio quality issues, and wireless dropouts that can affect performances. By coordinating frequencies effectively you limit the risk of facing these same issues. To help you manage and coordinating frequencies there are tools out there like spectrum analyzers and Sennheiser’s Wireless Systems Manager (WSM). WSM has the tools needed to scan the spectrum around you and coordinate and assign frequencies to your wireless devices.
3. Being Compliant
Todays busy wireless spectrum is used by not only wireless devices like mics, IEM’s, wireless video transmission etc…, but also by cell communication networks and digital TV transmission. Cell comms and DTV networks own big portions of the spectrum and it’s up to us the users to do our research to learn where we are able to operate and where we are to stay away. Certain areas of the spectrum also require a license to operate, so as mentioned before we have to do our research to remain compliant and prevent violations of regulations set by governing bodies responsible for managing RF spectrum allocation. For the latest information on local frequency regulations Sennheiser has put together the Sennheiser International Frequency Advisor (SIFA). There you will find great information, like which frequency bands require a license or which are license exempt for various countries around the world.
