If you encounter a problem updating a Sennheiser component through the Control Cockpit software, please consider the following:
1. Firewall port block
Often a blocked firewall port needed will result in a failure at the very start of the firmware update process.
Control Cockpit being a web service relies on a number of ports to be open and clear. As of version 8.2.0 below are the required ports:
2. Try running Sennheiser Control Cockpit as administrator.
Close out of Control Cockpit within the system tray by right clicking on the Control Cockpit icon and selecting Stop Running Service.
Do a Windows search for Control Cockpit. Right click on the tray app and select Run As Administrator; click OK on the User Account window to allow changes.
Then right click on the Sennheiser Control Cockpit app in the system tray and select Start service; right click once more to Open Cockpit.
3. Try re-flashing the current firmware version of your product
From Control Cockpit > Device tab. If this goes through successfully, attempt updating.
4. Restart the device in question.
This can be done from the Control Cockpit on the Device tab.
Move the slider and press OK to perform a power cycle. Once the unit comes back online, try to update.
5. If all else fails, consider isolating the network.
Using a small unmanaged network switch, connect just the Sennheiser hardware and the PC running Control Cockpit. The network mode should be Automatic mDNS / DHCP.
Isolating the network to a smaller, localized controlled setting may help especially if many units in a deployment aren't able to update due to larger scale corporate network/firewall settings in place.
